A PARISH PLAN MEETING WILL BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY 26 MAY 2010
FROM 6.30 PM TO 7.30 PM AT THE VILLAGE HALL, LONG LANE BURSLEDON, SOUTHAMPTON, SO31 8BZ
BURSLEDON PARISH COUNCIL WOULD WARMLY LIKE TO INVITE ALL RESIDENTS OF BURSLEDON TO ATTEND A PARISH PLAN MEETING, AT WHICH IT IS PROPOSED TO CONSIDER THE PREPARATION OF A PARISH PLAN AND TO INITIATE SETTING UP A STEERING GROUP, CONSISTING OF VARIED MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY.
A Parish Plan is a statement of how the community sees itself
developing over the next few years. It:
• reflects the views of all sections of the community;
• identifies which features and local characteristics people value;
• identifies local problems and opportunities;
• spells out how residents want the community to develop in
the future;
• prepares a plan of action to achieve this vision.
The parish council ultimately takes responsibility for producing and endorsing a Parish Plan, but does not do all the work; most of the work will be done by the steering committee and working groups set up for this purpose and who should be drawn from all sections of the parish to ensure the plan represents the views of the whole community. The parish Council’s role is to support the steering group in their work, and have a representative presence on the committee to help ensure that the parish plan sets out realistic and achievable goals that are a fair representation of the community as a whole.
We hope you can join us, but if you are unable to do so and would like to be involved in the process, please contact the parish office on 023 8040 7535 or email clerk AT bursledon DOT org
